Steve Smith is a publisher, storyteller and passionate conservator of brands. His 30-year journey in marketing communications has earned him a reputation as an award-winning creative director, copywriter and communications strategist working with health systems, nonprofits and brands (some are household names, others not so much).

Steve is founder/president/creative director of the advertising agency Stephen A. Smith & Associates. Since 2010, he’s been publisher/creative director and chief storyteller at Consonant Custom Media.

At CCM, Steve helps nonprofits such as the USF Health Foundation, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and CAN Community Health improve fundraising and community engagement by sharing their most compelling stories. He's also worked with Florida Cancer Specialists, the largest independent oncology/hematology practice in the United States. For FCS, Steve and his team developed a robust original content platform to help them engage more effectively with referring physicians. 

Steve holds certifications in inbound marketing, social media and email marketing. Lately he’s obsessed with applying the inbound marketing methodology to nonprofit advancement.

His work has been widely recognized by the American Advertising Federation, the FPRA and the International Association of Business Communicators. He's also got a pile of ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation in recognition of creative excellence.

Steve is a past president of the AAF's Suncoast AdFed chapter and a guest lecturer at Ringling College of Art and Design. As the AAF-Fourth District’s Public Service Chair, he helped launch a statewide Alzheimer’s disease awareness campaign called We CAN Florida.
